Isn't it ironic how the longer the internet went on, the more primitive it got?

Take for instance, obviously, YouTube. Also Stumbleupon. Or Myspace. Back in the day most sites allowed for extensive customization; your profiles could have truly unique designs that you make up yourself- very colorful. YouTube had video replies, groups, etc. Of course, the 5 star rating system. Stumbleupon allowed for multiple themes for your profile, along with a lot of other features.

Now, a decade after most of these services, and they're a hollow shell of their former selves. SU doesn't have any themes anymore and it's all just paid advertising and spambots.

Youtube has thumbs up / thumbs down only, and they removed a fuckload of other features. And your channel design is limited to jack shit. And as we're discussing, they've kept making the designs shittier for mobilefags.

$$$ killed the internet; and I understand that every business needs money, but they dumbed down society to the point where the LCD / bar is a thousand miles below what it used to be even in the 2000s. Classic YouTube, MySpace, etc - the 90s / 2000s internet was extremely social. Look at MMOs like WoW / Maplestory.

2010s internet is shit.

However, there is hope. It's called vidlii.

We who experienced the internet in its first generation of existence (1991~2009) took it for granted. Now that corporatism and normie idiocy has eroded it to the core and rotted off whatever sense of community and intellectualism remains, it brings extreme senses of depression and saudade.

Do not give up hope though; YOU are the change you want to see. Let's Make the Internet Great Again.
